Someone who is good at literary terms and english please help?

I've heard of the technique of 'doppelganger' which is used to describe an evil twin, or ghostly double of character.

In 'The withered arm' Rhoda has a dream she sees the person she hates, but disfigured and evil.

Would it be appropriate to describe the character in the dream as a 'doppelganger'?

Also, how would this word be put into context?Someone who is good at literary terms and english please help?
I do not know this text but It sounds like the person described is not an evil twin of Rhoda but in fact a representation of herself and therefore should NOT be described as a dopplegager. Try describing this person as the personification of Rhoda's fears - she hates this person and also dreams of her indicating that she is afraid of becoming this 'evil' figure.

Could do with reading the text really.
A Doppellganger is supposed to be so like someone that people think it is the one they know so to see them looking different is not a Doppelganger. Think of twins who are identical, they have their own doppelgangers, but usually doppelgangers are not known to each other. So its not appropriate to describe the person in the story as one but more as the true persona being seen in the dream because thats the way Rhoda percieves them.Someone who is good at literary terms and english please help?
Eh?

Doppelganger is German word which means

'a spirit that looks exactly like a living person, or a person who looks exactly like someone else but who is not related to them'

(Cambridge Free Dictionary)

There is not, as far as I am aware, a 'technique of doppelganger' though you could try Roget's Thesaurus ...Someone who is good at literary terms and english please help?
yes the doppelganger is described as evil twin. u shouldn't write it as that though. cause their not like the same person. if they were, u would writ it as : Rhoda saw her doppleganger in her dreams or When Rhoda was dreaming, she saw her (evil if u like) doppleganger (and describe how looked or something about him/her).
Doppelganger isn't a technique, it is a word used to describe a ghost-type person who looks exactly the same as you.

It wouldn't be appropriate to use it in the context you suggest as they do not look alike.
You have answered your own question. A doppelganger is the double of someone...
