What is a Doppelganger?

Okay, so is this true? If your friends/family see a person who looks exactly like you but it's not you doing things, is it a sign of death? What is a Doppelganger?
A doppelg盲nger is the ghostly double of a living person, a sinister form of bilocation.

In the vernacular, the word "doppelg盲nger" has come to refer (as in German) to any double or look-alike of a person. The word is also used to describe the sensation of having glimpsed at oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection. They are generally regarded as harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelg盲nger seen by a person's friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one's own doppelg盲nger is an omen of death. In Norse mythology, a vard酶ger is a ghostly double who precedes a living person and is seen performing their actions in advance. What is a Doppelganger?
The term Doppelganger means double-walker in German - it refers to a duplicate or body double - someone who looks enough like someone else to be mistaken for the original - mystically speaking it's believed to be a ghost of your future self come back through time to warn you or someone who knows you of danger. In fact, it could just be somebody that happens to look like you.

It's not necessarily a sign of death, it can be a sign of illness or bad luck; but it is considered a warning that your actions may not turn out well, and ought to be rethought.

Today - everything that's slightly sinister, or mysterious, has been turned into a evil omen for the purposes of trying to scare movie goers. don't buy into it.
