Frankenstein quotes?! Ex. of Doppelganger in quotes from Frankenstein? ?

I need help finding quotes in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley that show examples of doppelganger. Id really appreciate it, thanks!Frankenstein quotes?! Ex. of Doppelganger in quotes from Frankenstein? ?
A doppelganger is a literary device to describe an alter ego or counterpart of a living person. A doppelganger is used to show two different distinct, often opposite, personalities or personality traits. This literary device is used in stories to show internal confliction and the multifacited nature of a character. An example of this is in the book, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, in which Dr. Jekyll creates a an evil alter ego for himself, showing his internal conflict between good and evil.

Exempli Gratia

1. A quote from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is an example of doppelganger:

“I am alone and miserable; man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me. My companion must be of the same species and have the same defects. This being you must create.”

Frankenstein’s monster is a projection of Frankensteins loneliness and the evil inside him, therefore the monster feels like an outsider, ugly, and lonely. This shows that Frankenstein’s alter ego is the monster, and therefore a doppelganger that projects his internal loneliness and inner torment.

Analysis of Volume 1 Chapter 5 of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

This passage is set at a point in the story where Dr. Victor

Frankenstein is creating and making his first descriptions of the

monster. Frankenstein at this time has been driven to work more and

more to complete his aim, making him seem madly obsessed with his

work.

During this passage, the Dr. and the monster are constantly described

in the same ways,

“how delineate the wretch”: the monster

“I passed the night wretchedly”: Frankenstein

This could show how the monster is being conveyed as the Dr’s

doppelganger, of the reflection of his subconscious. Frankenstein,

later in the book thinks, when the monster says “I shall be with you

on your wedding night”, that this is a threat to him, which it isn’t.

This quote can be linked to the legend of the doppelganger, which is

that if you have a doppelganger, then you must kill it before it kills

you. The dream Frankenstein experiences in this chapter could also be

seen as a representation of the Doctor’s subconscious.

pg. 13 "He entered attentively into all my arguments...countenance." This shows the doppelganger between Walton and Frankenstein.

pg. 22 "We were brought up together...knowledge." This illustrates a doppelganger between Elizabeth and Frankenstein.

pg. 35 "I attended the lectures...apprehension." This is an example of doppelganger between the two professors.

pg. 38 "As the minuteness of the parts formed a great hindrance to my speed, I resolved, contrary to my first intention, to make the being of a gigantic statrue, that is to say, about eight feet in height, and proportionally large." doppelganger between Frankenstein and the monster.

pg. 14 "Such a man has a double existence: he may suffer misery and be overwhelmed by disappointments, yet when he has retired into himself, he will be like a celestial spirit that has a halo around him, whithin whose circle no grief or folly ventures"

Chapter 2: pg 23 "NO human being could have passed a happier childhood than myself."

This becomes important because it lends to the fact that Frankenstein and the creature are opposites, or doppelgangers.

"She died calmly, and her countenance expressed affection even in death."

This is an example of how Frankenstein and Walton are doppelgangers. Walton lost his father, Frankenstein lost his mother.
