Does anyone know what doppelganger is?

I have no idea what a doppelganger is and when i look it up i get all kinds of weird answers like something about a ghost, look-a-like, evil twin...Anyone know what it is? Or is it all of those??

Does anyone know what doppelganger is?
It originally referred to someone who looked like you. But over the last century, it has been used by fiction writers to refer to an evil twin or double.
A doppelganger is a tangible double of a living person in fiction, folklore, and popular culture that typically represents evil. In the vernacular, the word doppelg盲nger has come to refer (as in German "doppelt(e)") to any double or look-alike of a person.



They cant actually exist, I mean what are the chances of someone meeting an entirely accurate representation of themselves, down to the hairstyle, fingernail length, eye colour, FINGERPRINTS, voice.... it just coulndt happen. The only thing I can think of is a creepy enstranged twin sibling, but thats a bit far fetched lol.Does anyone know what doppelganger is?
There are conflicting answers but first we have to clear up one thing.



A fetch is your spirit that may come before you die as a premonition of death. It often looks like the person at the moment of death (ie. covered in blood, decapitated etc.) Dying is pretty disorienting and the fetch is trying to find it's way around. A spirit with no physical body.



A doppelganger is a creature that has no true form of it's own. It takes a form and tries to kill off the real one to take his/her place. In short a physical monster.

Doppelganger is german for something like double or exact same.

I was reading an article earlier this year about the probability of having a 'Doppelganger' of you somewhere else in the world. It's just basically an exact copy or double of something else. Like a duplication.
From what I've heard, it is someone that looks exactly like you, and if you see your doppelganger it is an omen that you will die.
Yes, I can read and comprehend what I read, so I do know what a doppelganger is.
