I know that in literature, it is mostly represent as evil. But, if I was to use it as a self-reflection in my personal essay, would it work?Could the use of doppelganger be a good thing?
A lot goes into whether a piece of writing actually works or not besides just the subject matter.
Sure dopplegangers are nearly synonmous with "evil twin", but I could see it be effectively used the other way around.
Imagine a self obsessed businessman who only cares for himself is approached with a genuine thank you for all the work he did for a charity. He knows he never did any charity work and begins to investigate, fearing identity theft or something. He finds out that a guy who looks just like him is dedicating all his time and money to help the needy. The businessman is being constantly mistaken for the other individual. Will he slowly begin to enjoy the accolades? Will it cause him to re-evaluate his life and choose to do "good"? It could be a very interesting journey through a life change.Could the use of doppelganger be a good thing?
It depends on how well you portray it in your essay. In my opinion, it's an interesting idea.Could the use of doppelganger be a good thing?
